Our Teachers
Stan Schertzer - Founder
and Director, Jazz Piano, Composition
Stan
is a graduate of Berklee College of Music with a BM in
Composition. Stan has 33 years of piano teaching experience in
all mediums from pop and jazz to the classics. Stan instills on
his many wonderful teachers the importance of creativeness and
self-expression through their student's instruments. He is
currently playing keyboards and arranging for the band Key
Winds, performing in varied venues throughout the New England
area. He is also musical director and arranger for Cantor Jodi
Schechtman of Temple Beth Am currently working on an upcoming CD
of original songs for Shabbat Unplugged.
Tucker Antell -
Sax, Clarinet, Flute, beginning piano

Tucker grew up in Sarasota, FL and
began playing saxophone at the age of 10, playing professionally
by 13 and recording by 16; solo, and again with Jazz veteran the
late great Al Galladoro. He attended the University of Michigan
for two years, studying with the late master Donald Walden
before transferring to the New England Conservatory of music in
Boston, where he studied with George Garzone, Jerry Bergonzi,
Billy Hart and Cecil McBee, among the many other great
musicians.. In 2009 Tucker
received a B.A. from the New England Conservatory.
His music training in a variety of
genres allows him to teach the classics as well as jazz,
improvisation and other modern music styles. Tucker caters his
teaching skills to each student’s personal interests in music.
He also tries his best to make it fun, all the while making sure
to keep progress and structure. His motto is: The more you put
into it, the more you get out of it. How true!
Chris Enright
- Piano/Jazz
Piano/Beginning Guitar

Chris was
born in Rochester, New York and raised in Bath, Maine, has had a
passion for music all of his life. After receiving considerable
scholarships from Berklee College of Music's World Scholarship
Tour, and Berklee's Entering Student Talent Scholarship, Chris
left Bath and made his way to Boston where earned his bachelors
degree in piano performance and jazz composition, graduating cum
laude. During enrollment, Chris' musical skills were developed
with the help of Berklee's exceptional faculty, including Danilo
Perez, Joanne Brackeen, Hal Crook, Tiger Okoshi, Joe Lovano, and
George Garzone. He also traveled and performed with Phil
Wilson's Rainbow Band and Rainbow All-Stars. Chris is currently
a graduate student at New England Conservatory working toward an
MM degree. In addition to working for MTC, he teaches at
Robinson Music in Westboro, MA. Chris brings an incredible
knowledge of his instrument and an exuberant teaching style for
all ages to MTC.
Maeve
Gilchrist - Piano, Voice, Harp
Maeve was born and
raised in Edinburgh, Scotland. Daughter to an Irish mother and
Scottish father she grew up immersed in traditional folk music.
At an early age Maeve was accepted into the City of Edinburgh
Music School where she spent seven years studying classical
piano, clarsach (Celtic harp), pedal harp and towards the end,
jazz vocals. From thirteen onwards, Maeve was an in demand
member on the traditional music scene in Scotland where she
performed at events such as the opening of the Scottish
Parliament, the Celtic Connections Festival and the
International Edinburgh Harp Festival. At seventeen Maeve
received a full scholarship from the Berklee College of Music in
Boston, USA where she studied jazz and world music, alongside a
colorful career as a professional musician and teacher. In
addition to her world renowned recording career and numerous
performances from Scotland to Hawaii, Maeve has enjoyed a
teaching career as well. She has taught voice lessons at Blue
Ridge Irish Music School in Virginia, as well as harp instructor
at Boston Irish Music School at Harvard University and Boston
College. She has also taught general music for Creative
Classrooms NYC. Maeve brings a vast wealth of experience and
knowledge to MTC. Her own personal philosophy is to keep on
enjoying and contributing to the world of music as a performer,
educator and composer.
Audrey
Gutfreund - Piano
and Voice
Audrey
received her Bachelor Of Arts in 2005 from Lawrence University
in Wisconsin with her concentration in music. She is currently
attending Lesley University in Cambridge where she is doing
graduate work toward achieving her Master Of Education. Prior to
college, Audrey has studied the piano for 10 years and classical
voice for two. In college, she regularly performed on each
instrument, as well as engage in study of song and piano
literature, musical theatre techniques and diction. Audrey has
taught both piano and voice lessons at Roger's Middle School
Campus for Citizen Schools in Wisconsin. She is a sensitive and
thoughtful teacher who will bring a wealth of musical knowledge
and talent to the MTC community. Audrey is committed to bringing
out the best in her students and gives them the tools to be able
to achieve this.
Paul
Johnson -
Guitar/Beginning Piano/Trumpet Bass
Paul
received an honorary BA degree
in Music from Boston College in 2001. He has been teaching
private music lessons since 2000 and currently teaching guitar
at Daddy's Junky Music in Peabody. While at BC Paul participated
in the Boston College Screaming Eagles marching band playing
trumpet. He teaches various styles including rock, blues and
jazz. He has a strong passion for music and is able to bring
this excitement for music to his lessons. Paul motivates his
students to seek higher levels of music accomplishment
empowering them to express themselves in their music. He totally
fits in with the MTC philosophy of encouraging his students to
make their best efforts at all times while still having a fun
learning experience.
Jeffrey McAuliffe -
Guitar/Piano/Bass/Drums
Jeff is a dedicated and committed music
instructor with experience teaching guitar, piano and percussion
since 2006. He has worked at The Real School of Music in
Burlington, MA and Musika Lessons in Boston. He is very patient
and creative with his students. His education at Berklee College
has prepared him for teaching any style of music and to listen
to the needs of his students. Jeff’s goal as an educator is to
instill in each student an interest and desire to learn, so that
creativity can flourish and personal achievement can be
realized. He adds so much to the philosophy and goals of MTC.
Music lessons have to be fun!
Charlie
McLaren - Guitar/Bass/Percussion/Beginning Piano
Charlie is a
2005 B.M. graduate of Berklee College of Music with special
emphasis on jazz studies, composition and world music with
performances on guitar and percussion. He has taught private
lessons since 2002. Charlie traveled to Ghana in 2003 and
deepened his understanding and skills in traditional West
African percussion and music. He continued to perform with the
West African Drum and Dance Ensemble at Berklee with Joe Galeota,
playing guitar and percussion. Since graduating, Charlie has
been performing regularly with local bands Afro Brazil and Samba
Lolo. He also teaches guitar ensembles at Somerville High School
since the Fall of 2008. Charlie listens to his students and
teaches them based on their needs and interests in the music
world.
Gerry
Rollock - Beginning-Intermediate Piano/Bass Guitar
Gerry is a 1990
graduate of Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor’s Degree in
Music Education certified primary and secondary school. He has
taught music in Madison Park High School, U-Manna Banes Middle
School and St. Angelo’s Catholic School in Mattapan. Gerry is an
active performing musician playing in many venues throughout the
Greater Boston area. He brings to the Collaborative a working
knowledge of his craft and through his teaching skills inspires
others in the process.
